Terry Kovel at the Natl Bottle Show

Here's FOHBC Life Member,  long time bottle collector, and noted author Terry Kovel speaking with collectors after Jeff Wichmann's seminar talk about the bottle collecting hobby.

We were so pleased to have Terry attend our show. I wish I had taken more than one pic, but I didn't want to seem like a paparazzi. I watched her as she circulated around the show, stopping to talk to so many people. Such energy, and obvious passion for the field of bottles, as well as antiques, not to mention for the people in the hobby. She has a lot of admirers, and so many people were thrilled to have the opportunity to meet her.

Terry reported on her website, that she attended the National Bottle Show, and even added a paper-label bitters bottle from her home town of Cleveland to go with her food products/general store collection that she and her late husband Ralph started way back in the beginning of their antiquing career.

"Congratulations!" are in order for Terry and Ralph, as they are being honored by the Press Club of Cleveland. The Kovels will be inducted this fall into the 2010 Cleveland Journalism Hall of Fame. The accolade is well deserved, as the Kovels have kept collectors and dealers up to date for more than four decades by writing 99 books, a nationally syndicated newspaper column, a monthly subscription newsletter, "Kovels on Antiques and Collectibles," and numerous articles and other publications.

When I first started antiquing, their books were invaluable to me - especially the pottery marks book. Kovels is still helping and informing collectors, with their newer books, their printed newsletters, and the new website, and e-newsletters. --go to kovels.com and see for yourself.

It was so nice to meet you, Terry. We're all glad you attended our bottle show. Thanks!
