THANK YOU To Everyone Who Helped Make Summer Muncie 2011 JAR-tastic!

Here's a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who helped to make Summer Muncie 2011 such a success!

Jerry and I have so many people to thank -- everyone who supported, promoted, contributed, participated, attended -- you are what made the week JAR-Tastic!

Thank You Shout Outs go to:

Jeff Bryan and his team at the Muncie Signature Inn outdid themselves in making us feel welcome, and well-cared for. Be sure to make your reservations now for 2012. [Note: Jeff asks those of us who stayed at the hotel to please head over to TRIPADVISOR and review the hotel. Here's the link.]

Cheers, Bob! A toast to Bob Rhineberger for contributing a lot of the HAPPY in our Happy Hour cocktail parties by his donation of several cases of wine and liquor.

Martin Van Zant for donating/printing our show flyers.

The FOHBC for blogging our press release.

Antique Bottle and Glass Collector Magazine contributed advertising space.

The Midwest Fruit Jar Club (http://www.fruitjar.org/) contributed $100 for costs. Be sure to make your plans to attend their show in January 2012.

*** Cash contributions came from so many generous people. I can't even try to list them, because I am bound to miss somone, so please know that you all are appreciated so much! ***

The Fund Raiser Auction -- a Big Success!

Another Big Thank You to the Midwest Club for putting on the Saturday auction, which turned into a great fundraiser for the Summer event, and with the cash contributions allowed us to recoup all of our costs.

Many, many fruit jar goodies were donated. Some items came from outside supporters, and many more from the generous collectors present.

The bidders were equally generous.

Please forgive me if I haven't listed all of the donor's and bidder's names. You are all so appreciated!

  • Our outside donations were:

Blackburn Press donated copies of Toulouse's Fruit Jar Manual for our fund-raising auction.

"Jar-tist" Dave Dube' contributed a print of one of his gorgeous Ball Jar drawings for the auction. Bruce Schank won the bid @ $75

  • Some auction highlights were:

Rick Lease donated a BALL ST. street sign, which also went home with Brucie, @ $100

Dick Bere's box of ass't'd. jars contributed $89 to our costs.

Jon Raver donated an artist-signed-Ltd. Ed.-print of a drawing of fruit jars. Russ Crupe won the bid @ $60

Jim Sears donated a 1977 Canadian Fruit Jars reference book. Carl and Marilyn Miller took it home with a $60 bid.

Other items were donated by Greg Spurgeon, Bruce Schank, Jeff Harper, Ron Ashby, Dan Corker.

Other winning bidders included Colleen Dixon, Darren ____, Tom Caniff, Joe Coulson.

Thank you to all the under-bidders, too.

The auction was such a great success as a fund-raiser that we will be doing it again next summer too. Can't wait to see what treasures we come up with!

The Most Important Contribution

I'm not talking about money now, but that scarcest commodity, TIME. Summer Muncie 2012 would not have been the JAR-tastic event it was without the participation of everyone who attended.

Whether you came for a few hours, or all 5 days. Whether you set up your jars to sell, gave a talk, led a discussion group, brought goodies for show-and-tell, or just came to shop and visit. It's ALL of the people who make the whole thing happen. THANK YOU!

A few more "Shout-Outs" to:
  • Jerry McCann, Tom Caniff, Jean Harbron, Dick Cole, Jeff Harper for their enlightening and entertaining talks.
  • The Midwest Club for holding their meeting at the hotel, and putting on the auction.
  • The Jelly Jammers Club for holding their meeting with us, too.
